Job Description Cashier
Job Summary: The Restaurant Cashier is responsible for managing transactions with customers, handling payments, and ensuring excellent customer service in a restaurant setting. The role involves greeting customers, processing orders, and maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the cashier area. This position requires attention to detail, the ability to work efficiently under pressure, and strong interpersonal skills.
Key Responsibilities:
Customer Interaction:
- Greet customers warmly as they enter the restaurant.
- Assist customers with their orders, answer questions about the menu, and provide information on specials.
Order Processing:
- Take customer orders accurately and input them into the POS system.
- Communicate orders to the kitchen staff promptly.
Transaction Handling:
- Process customer payments through cash, credit/debit cards, and other payment methods.
- Issue receipts and ensure customers receive accurate change.
- Handle transactions for dine-in, takeout, and delivery orders.
Financial Management:
- Count the cash register drawer at the beginning and end of shifts to ensure accurate balances.
- Prepare daily financial reports and deposit summaries as required.
Store Maintenance:
- Keep the cashier area clean and organized.
- Restock supplies such as receipt paper, napkins, and menus as needed.
Compliance and Security:
- Follow restaurant procedures for handling coupons, discounts, and gift certificates.
- Adhere to security protocols to prevent theft and fraud.
Team Collaboration:
- Work closely with servers, kitchen staff, and management to ensure smooth operation.
- Communicate effectively with team members regarding customer orders and special requests.
Customer Service:
- Address customer complaints and issues promptly and professionally.
- Ensure a positive dining experience for all customers.
