Responsibiliti

 Opening Duties:

  • Arrive on time for the start of the shift and prepare the host/hostess station for the day.
  • Ensure the reception area is clean, organized, and set up for service.
  • Check reservations for the day and prepare seating arrangements accordingly.

Greeting and Seating Guests:

  • Welcome guests as they arrive and provide a warm and friendly greeting.
  • Manage the seating rotation to ensure efficient use of tables and minimize wait times.
  • Escort guests to their tables and present menus.

 Managing Reservations:

  • Record incoming reservations accurately and update the reservation book or system.
  • Allocate appropriate tables for reservations based on party size and seating preferences.
  • Communicate any special requests or preferences from guests to the serving staff.

Customer Service:

  • Provide information about the restaurant, menu items, and specials to guests.
  • Assist guests with any inquiries, concerns, or special requests they may have.
  • Handle guest complaints or issues promptly and escalate to management if necessary.

 Coordinating with Serving Staff:

  • Communicate table assignments and special requests to the serving staff.
  • Relay any updates or changes in reservations to the kitchen and serving staff.
  • Coordinate seating and pacing of tables to ensure smooth service flow.

Monitoring Wait Times:

  • Keep track of wait times and manage the guest waiting list efficiently.
  • Provide accurate wait time estimates to guests and offer alternatives if necessary.

Maintaining Host/Hostess Station:

  • Keep the host/hostess station clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Ensure menus, promotional materials, and other guest information are readily available.
  • Monitor the lobby area for cleanliness and tidiness throughout the shift.

Closing Duties:

  • Assist in closing procedures, including cashing out and reconciling any cash or credit transactions.
  • Clean and reset tables in the host/hostess area and lobby.
  • Complete end-of-shift tasks and prepare the station for the next shift.

Team Collaboration:

  • Work collaboratively with other restaurant staff members to ensure a positive guest experience.
  • Communicate effectively with serving staff, kitchen staff, and management to address any issues or concerns.

Training and Development:

  • Participate in training sessions to enhance customer service skills, product knowledge, and procedural understanding.
  • Stay updated on restaurant policies, promotions, and menu changes.
